Pass-Them-Around is a phone-based application that allows a small group of collocated people to share photos using the metaphor of passing paper photos around. The prototype encourages people to share their devices and use them interchangeably while discussing photos face-to-face. The prototype supports ad-hoc photo sharing in different contexts by taking into account the spatial arrangement of users around a table, measured with sensors embedded in their mobile phones. Color app - For more info visit - www.color.com This new COLOR app stretches the limits of social networking beyond our current conception. It allows for sharing of photos universally between multiple users within a certain proximity (around 100 - 150ft). You can take a picture on your phone using this app and within seconds that photo can be viewed by anyone else within the proximity who is using the app. Imagine the possibilities for parties, weddings, clubs, bars, singles events. It really is an interesting idea. It does have it's quirks though - while the app works well on the latest Iphone versions there are no instructions anywhere on how to use the program (a couple of minutes and most people will have it figured out). The app also is useless if there is no one else in your proximity who is using it. I see in the future bars or clubs that will be sponsoring "color" night events so people can share photos and flirt. I also see the possibility that this will be an "adult" feature for more serious adventures in certain areas. Early reviews have been negative largely due to people not understanding what the program could be used for and the lack of instructions. Until a couple million people download it the app will be kind of useless. I'm guessing the 41 million dollars the company raised from banks will be used for a marketing blitz. But watch out - once everyone has this app on their device I think it will be the ultimate in voyeuristic entertainment.
